چکیده

32 Maternal pertussis vaccination is associated with higher levels of pertussis 33 antibodies at birth. We assessed the persistence of pertussis antibodies until 34 primary vaccination in infants whose mothers received Tdap (tetanus, 35 diphtheria, acellular pertussis) vaccine during pregnancy. Infants were born at 36 the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona (Spain) in November 2014. Anti-PT IgG was 37 determined by ELISA at delivery, between the first and second month of life, 38 and estimated at 2 months of age. The study included 37 infants whose 39 mothers received Tdap between 21 and 38 weeks of gestation. Infants 40 presented a decline in GMC of anti-PT IgG between peripartum and follow-up 41 levels, 52.7 (95% CI 34.7–80.2) versus 7.5 (95% CI 4.2–13.3) at 2 months of 42 age (p <0.001). The median half-life of maternal antibodies was 47 days. More 43 than half (51.4%) the infants presented detectable anti-PT IgG before the start 44 of primary infant vaccination. 45 46

The Impact of Early Postpartum Maternal Pertussis Vaccination on the Protection of Infants: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Background: Despite primary vaccination, infants under six months run a risk of infection with pertussis. Objective: To determine the impact of early postpartum maternal pertussis vaccination on protecting infants from the disease. Methods: All mothers (n=405) who gave birth to healthy term infants were educated on the cocoon strategy. The moth...

شیوع ایمنی سیاه سرفه و توان ایمنی زایی واکسن سه گانه بالغین در زنان سنین باروری قبل از حاملگی

Background and purpose: After marked reduction of pertussis during recent two decades the incidence of disease is increasing, particularly in early infancy. The main sources of infection in this age group are mother and other household close contacts. Our purpose was to examine whether administrating prepregnancy pertussis booster dose can induce long-term protection enough to provide higher ma...

Seroprevalence of IgG Antibodies against Bordetella pertussis in Different Age Groups in Tehran, Iran

Background and Aims: Pertussis is a highly contagious, vaccine-preventable disease. Determination of the seroepidemiology of pertussis makes possible the evaluation of pertussis immunity in a population. In this study, we determined the seroprevalence of Bordetella pertussis IgG antibodies in different age groups in Tehran, Iran. Materials and Methods: Overa...

Impact of vaccination on epidemiology of diphtheria and pertussis

Whooping cough and diphtheria are vaccine preventable diseases. Diphtheria, due to Corynebacterium diphtheriae or Corynebactium ulcerans, two Gram positive bacteria, is a serious upper respiratory tract disease with high morbidity and mortality rates. Vaccination, via an acellular vaccine composed only of purified, detoxified diphtheria toxin, has significantly reduced the incidence of the dise...

Virulence Factors Variation Among Bordetella Pertussis Isolates in Iran

Pertussis is still endemic and the recently resurgence of the disease caused by Bordetella pertussis has been shown in many countries. The polymorphism of the virulence genes of B. pertussis and lack of any information about the allelic variation between the Iranian isolates promotes us to analysis of the genes encoded virulence factors including ptxS1, prn, fim3 and cya to understand the diffe...
